Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri was an Indian actress, who gained notoriety for her roles in the films Hum Aapke Haiin Koun and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the 80s before coming into prominence thanks to her character in the Tezaab film, in which she was a part of the cast with an established actor Anil Kapoor. In the following film, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared alongside her. Born into a Mumbai middle-class family and began dancing at a young age. While still a teenager she attempted acting, but the majority films she attempted to make failed. She found fame and became one of the top movie actresses. After her wedding ceremony, she took a short break from her acting career before returning. Dixit played an important role on Gulaab Gang, a film focused on women's struggles in India. Dixit received fifteen Filmfare Awards nominations, of which, eight were awarded. Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award in India, was bestowed upon Dixit. She also has a reputation as a social activist.
